Dharmadhara
The Dharmadhara study and practice program was initiated by the Drikung translation group at the request of His Holiness, Drikung Kyabgön Thinle Lhundup, and launched in January 2024. The aim is to convey essential teachings of Buddhism, especially the Drikung Kagyü lineage. In line with the name "Dharmadhara," which means "holder of the teachings," the aim is to enable participants to practice the Buddha's teaching independently (e.g. in longer solitary retreats including a traditional three-year retreat) and to support the spread of Dharma in the West in different roles (e.g. by working in centers or as teachers).
Students can fulfill the program requirements flexibly on their own time and through individual course selection. A credit point system is used for this. In addition to individual events and weekend seminars, which can mostly be attended online, retreats of varying lengths offer the opportunity to deepen newly acquired knowledge and consolidate learned practices. Depending on the individual's time constraints, the program can be completed in about five years.

The Drikung Garchen Institute is actively involved in the Dharmadhara study and practice program. Since April 2025, Drubpön Tsering Rinpoche has been teaching the five-fold path of Mahamudra (Tib. Ngaden) in the Dharmadhara module 3 – meditation and retreats. Many of the retreats regularly held at the Drikung Garchen Institute are also part of the program.
